Both the villa and the estate are named after local landowner, Giuseppe Martelli.
The entire property had been abandoned until 1950 when the current owners took over.
The estate spreads over approximately twelve hectares of land south of Castelnuovo dellAbate and includes fermentation and ageing cellar built on three levels with a gravity system and is equipped with the best systems for the biodynamic production of Rosso and Brunello di Montalcino. The vineyards and olive groves extend over 10 hectares of the land. Last, but not least, there is a splendid villa on the estate, the result of a careful restoration of the old country home.
The house faces one of the most enchanting and intense views of the entire Val dOrcia. Located halfway up the hill of Castelnuovo dellAbate, it favours a privileged position between the valleys of Amiata. At any time of the year, it is possible to admire the continual stream of clouds, rays of sun and the light mist, even from the early hours of the morning, and also take in the array of nature among the hills, mountains and rivers, which make this location unique. Thanks to the careful recovery work by architect Lensi Orlandi Cardini, the country house has an exceptional number of windows of varying sizes. Through these windows you never lose contact with the splendour of the view that surrounds the home.
In this home, there is an unusual and innovative union between the classic beauty of the Tuscan countryside with its typical Sienese construction and the uniqueness of the inside, enriched by a vast collection of XXI century works. With the convenient location of the villa, it is easy to reach the Abbey of SantAntimo and the historical centre of Montalcino while remaining immersed in the magnificent landscape and in absolute retreat from everyday life.
