With a secluded, peaceful setting and marvellous panoramic views, it isn't surprising that Villa Tenuta Villa La Chiusa Schnautzer was originally built as a spiritual retreat. After serving as a summer home for a Belgian countess, the villa passed into the hands of the present owners in the early '70s and has been carefully refurbished and restored.
Villa Tenuta Villa La Chiusa Schnautzer serves today as a delightful example of Tuscany's stately homes.
Large swimming pool with marvellous views over the surrounding countryside. ( the pool is open from 01 of May to 30 of September ).

The nearest village with restaurants and grocery is Nozzano with its medieval castle, 5 minutes by car.
The bus stop is at 400 mt from the property. Lucca center is 7 km far, Pisa is 25 km and sea coast is 25 km away.

Our party of 8 stayed at Tenuta Villa La Chiusa in the Castore & Polluce unit from 4/19/08 to 5/3/08. It consists of 4 separate and private bedrooms, each of which has its own bath with shower. It should be known that the bathrooms are all down 4-8 stairs from the bedrooms so be aware of that fact if that is an issue for you. The owners, Pino and Orsola Faver, could not have been more helpful. They assisted us in tracing ancestry of one of our party whose relatives trace back to Lucca. They recommended Volterre which turned out to be a highlight of our trip. They recommended local restaurants which were great to dine at. Orsola even cooked her specialty tortelli for us one night. The villa is about a 15 minute drive from the walls of Lucca. It is set in the hills over the town in a spectacular and very well cared for location. We enjoyed our stay immensely. We look forward to returning. We are even trying to talk the Faver family to visit us in California. Maybe some day.... We highly recommend Tenuta Villa La Chiusa. Brian D. The villa was beautifully appointed and the kitchen facilities excellent. Owners were charming and the son Andreas spoke excellent English which was a great help throughout our stay. Our party loved this Villa but there are a couple of comments we would like to make. One is that it should be made aware that all the bathrooms are down flights of stairs so anyone with walking difficulties would not really be able to manage them. We were not aware of this and as one of our party members is disabled they were rather difficult for him to negotiate. The other small comment is that a Toaster would be handy in the kitchen. We Brits do love our toast in the morning! Other than that and being bitten to death by mosquitoes it was perfect! Rental Date

We would certainly recommend this villa. Our family party, coming from Scotland and Bermuda, took two adjoining apartments and it worked really well. We had loads of room so we could have privacy when needed but we could also all eat together in the evening. We were very comfortable and the family looked after us very well. It's very well located for sightseeing and the beaches aren't too far away either. We would all love to go back! Rental Date

One of the highlights of our Italian sojourn was the Villa La Chiusa! Not only was the property beautiful, the Favers went out of their way for us. We had to go to the hospital (our son had "pink eye"......conjunctivitis) and Andrea and Pino Faver acted as interpreters for us at the hospital as our hospital Italian was terrible! This was only one example. The location is terrific - easy access to Pisa, Barga, Carrera, Collodi, and Firenze. One thing I would change on the website is the directions to get there. We could not find the "Trattoria da Maria" even after driving past it 8 times. At that point, the address got us there. We stayed in the Orfeo unit. The decor was lovely, well-appointed and clean, the scenery beautiful and the profusion of beautiful flowers they had planted were gorgeous. The selection of English paperbacks as well as maps and travel guides of the area were appreciated, and the Favers were continually improving the place (they put in a barbecue the week we were there). The pool was kept very clean and the pool area was lovely. It is a fantastic place and I would highly recommend it! Rental Date

The tuscany villa website and service I found to be very helpful. It was easy and convenient to pay for the villa through the website. There are a large number of villas on your website, but the search engine and criteria helped to filter through them all. The property and owners were excellent. The property was clean and well taken care of. The owners were very friendly and very helpful. They even drove us into town when we needed a ride.
